The legal repercussions of a March 2005 murder aren’t over yet, District Attorney Ronnie Harper said Friday.

Although an Adams County jury found Larry Jackson Jr. not guilty of Marshall “Mark” Brown’s murder, charges are still pending.

Soon after his trial, Jackson was charged with two counts of intimidating a witness.

Jackson’s mother, Patsy Ruth Jackson, 101-A Rushing St., was charged with one count of intimidating a witness.

Those charges were added to her previous charges of accessory after the fact in Brown’s murder.

Bobby Beard, 16 Fife St., faces charges of murder.

In the intimidation charges, “If Patsy and Larry are bound over to the grand jury, we will present it as soon as they become eligible,” Harper said. “They’re working their way through the system.”

Larry Jackson allegedly threatened a potential witness who later testified at his trial. The witness herself was incarcerated at the time, and jailers reportedly overheard the conversation.

The state tried to make the alleged threats a part of the evidence at Jackson’s trial, but the judge decided they were not relevant to the trial. He then suggested they be prosecuted as a separate case.

Beard was not indicted on his charges and remains out on bond.

Harper would not comment on whether or not Larry Jackson’s acquittal would affect the related cases against Patsy Jackson and Beard or whether they would be prosecuted.

“Some decisions are not made yet,” Harper said.

A trial date of July 10 is set for Patsy Jackson’s accessory charges.

No trial dates have been set for the rest of the charges.

Marshall “Mark” Brown was found murdered in his mobile home residence in front of an auto shop on U.S. 61 North where he worked.

Larry and Patsy Jackson remain in the Adams County Jail.

Bond has been set for Larry Jackson on the two intimidation charges and Patsy Jackson on the accessory and intimidation charge.
