Services for Kathy Sue Bigsby Brooks, 49, of Houston, Texas, who died Monday, March 12, 2007, in Houston, were held Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church with Dr. Lewis L. Jackson officiating.
Burial followed at the Paradise North Cemetery in Houston.
Mrs. Brooks was a graduate of Kashmere High School and a graduate of Prairie View A&M University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, earning a B.A. in Communications. She held a Master’s in Public School Administration.
Mrs. Brooks was employed by the City of Houston as a public relations specialist. She was also a counselor at Sam Houston High School. She was a member of the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Velma Livingston Bigsby; grandmothers, Lula Hicks and Laura Bigsby; and grandfathers, Newman Livingston Sr. and Ermon Bigsby.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Dr. Richard L. Brooks Sr.; stepson, Richard L. Brooks III; her father, Edwin Maurice Bigsby Sr.; brother, Edwin M. Bigsby Jr. and wife, Tamera, all of Houston; mother-in-law, Margaret A. Davis of Natchez; father-in-law, Willie James Davis of Natchez; sister-in-law, Barbara Thompson of Natchez; brothers-in-law, Adrian Davis and Carlton Davis and wife, Amy, all of Atlanta, Ga.; godmothers, Verna Joubert and Lois Gray, both of Houston.
Pallbearers were Craig Jackson, Dr. Harding D. Ross, Wallace Turner, Dr. Weldon C. Williams III, Keith Wilson, Anthony O. Davis, Adrain Davis Sr. and Jay Chauncey Brown.
