Block scored all five of its runs in the top of the fourth inning thanks to two run-scoring base hits, a couple of passed balls and an error as the Lady Bears held on to defeat Northwood-Lena 5-4 Monday afternoon in a District 3-1A game.

Misty Davis picked up the win on the mound for Block (11-10, 4-2) as she pitched a complete-game one-hitter, struck out four and walked one.

Her performance made up for seven errors committed by the Lady Bears that allowed the Lady Gators to stay in the game.

Lacinda Warren also did her best to keep Northwood-Lena in the game as she also went the distance.

Other than the fourth inning, Warren pitched six shutout innings. She allowed eight hits, struck out three and walked one.

Northwood-Lena (1-15, 1-7) took a 2-0 lead into the fourth inning, but couldn’t hold that lead.

Hannah Coldiron and Jennifer Squyres each had an RBI single. Mika Bennett and Squyres each scored on a passed ball and Sonni Manning reached on an error to score Megan McMillin.

Squyres went 2-for-3, Bennett was 2-for-4 and Ashley Kirby had a double for the Lady Bears.

Kirby’s double led off the top of the fifth, but was stranded there.

The Lady Gators scored one run each in the bottom of the fifth and sixth inning, but Davis pitched a scoreless seventh to end the rally.
