A woman’s two vehicles and house burned early Monday morning in what law enforcement officials are calling a case of arson.

A deputy traveling south on U.S. 61 saw a fire truck headed north and followed it to a Roosevelt Drive residence, according to Adams County Sheriff’s Office reports.

There, he saw two vehicles on fire — a 2000 Lincoln Navigator and a 1993 Toyota Camry. The blaze also damaged the nearby house trailer, melting the siding.

There was no structural damage to the house, Natchez Fire Department Battalion Chief Oliver Stewart said Monday.

The owner said she had heard noises earlier but hadn’t looked outside, according to the report. She looked outside, noticed both cars were on fire and called the fire department.

She said she had had problems with two men with whom she was in court.

Those two were suspects in the case, Sheriff Ronny Brown said Monday. The fire was likely set on purpose, he said.

“We’re investigating it,” Brown said. “We’re calling it arson. We have an investigator that works for us, and he will look at it and get with the state fire marshal’s office.”

No arrests had been made by Monday evening, and there were no warrants out for the suspects yet, Brown said.
