Trinity Episcopal 7, Copiah Academy 6
LIBERTY — In the second game of a varsity doubleheader at Amite School Center Thursday night, the Saints scored one run in the top of the 10th inning and held on to defeat the Colonels.
Copiah Academy jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but Trinity (8-9) rallied to eventually take the lead in the top of the sixth. The Saints scored three runs in their half of the sixth for a 5-4 lead.
But the Colonels sent the game into extra innings by scoring one run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Both teams scored one run in the eight inning and were held scoreless in the ninth before the Saints pulled out the win in the 10th.
Parker Brumfield went 2-for-4 with a double and Kolby Godfrey ended being the winning pitcher for Trinity. Clint Easom, Matthew Freeman and Kyle Ketchings each had a double.
Amite School Center 3, Trinity Episcopal 0
LIBERTY — Brennan Womach pitched seven scoreless innings and held Trinity Episcopal to just four hits and Casey Aldridge hit a home run as the Rebels defeated the Saints Thursday afternoon in the first game of a varsity doubleheader.
Parker Brumfield took the loss on the mound for Trinity even though allowed just three hits. Unfortunately, he couldn’t keep the Rebels off the scoreboard in what was a good pitchers’ duel.
Amite School Center broke a scoreless game with two runs in the bottom of the third inning and then added another run in the bottom of the fourth.
The one batter for Trinity that Womach couldn’t get out was Clint Easom, who went 3-for-3 with a double.
