Monterey had no answer for Kilbourne pitcher Whittington (no first name given) as she struck out 13 batters and walked just one as the Lady Hawks defeated the Lady Wolves 7-3 Friday afternoon.

With the win in this tiebreaker game, Kilbourne finished in second place in District 3-B with a 4-3 record while Monterey (6-21 overall) ended up third at 3-4. The good news is that both teams will be in the Class B playoffs.

Monterey will play a first-round game on either Monday, April 16 or Tuesday, April 17 against an opponent to be determined. And most likely the Lady Wolves will be on the road.

After being held scoreless in the first inning, the Lady Hawks scored either one or two runs in the next five innings.

Drew Sanders led Kilbourne by going 2-for-4 with a triple and Brooke Sanders went 2-for-3 with a double.
