Expansion tops week’s good news

As we say farewell to Easter and hopefully the last cold snap of the year, let’s take a moment to reflect on last week’s good news.
A Natchez oil and gas drilling company has expanded and will continue to grow with the help of a $89,000 grant. U.S. Rep. Chip Pickering was in town last week to help celebrate with Energy Drilling Co.
The expansion allows for an additional 25 new employees at Energy Drilling’s Liberty Road site bringing the total number of employees up to 200 workers.
Despite the untimely cold, the Delta Music Festival went off without a hitch. Crowds braved the temperatures to hear Vince Vance and the Valiants and a number of other performers. The museum honored performers Dale and Grace and the late John Fred Gourrier with inductions into the Delta Music Hall of Fame.
Steel delays, construction delays and delays on top of delays couldn’t entirely derail the Vidalia High School addition. Students can now use the new library and science labs. The building opened last week, and the school will host a grand opening celebration in the coming weeks. This year’s seniors have waited for the chance to use the new building, and we are glad they’ll have a few months inside.
Let’s hope next week is as good as the last. And warmer.
