What does a crown, college students, choreography, a car, can, cash and cancer have in common?
The majority of you would say that these are all words that begin with the letter “c.”
While that is true, these are all key words that are important in describing one of the most exciting events of the season. Allow me to explain the significance of each word.
Crown — We are delighted to announce that Miss Mississippi 2006 Taryn Foshee will be the emcee for the First Baptist Church Relay for Life Team’s Annual Gala and Silent Auction on Saturday, April 28 at 6 p.m. at the Family Life Center on 150 D’Evereaux Drive.
College students and choreography — “The Naturals” from Mississippi College will be the entertainment for the evening.
These young people a top of the line show group that perform popular songs set to choreography. Special lighting and special effects round out this great program.
Car — This is our top auction item for the event. It is a 1987 Pontiac Sunbird GT Convertible. For all you car buffs out there, this is a great little car to have for a leisurely Sunday afternoon drive.
This car has been donated to us by Danny Brown in memory of his mother, Shirley Brown, who lost her battle with cancer in 2006.
Can — Well that is part of our team theme. Start Spreading the News — We put the “CAN” in “CAN”cer. We are offering hope to all survivors by using one of my favorite scriptures — “I “CAN” do all things through Christ who gives me strength” Phillipians 4:13.
Cash — Bring your checkbook with you because we are offering some wonderful items for auction. This is our major fund raising event and we want you to be a part of this great evening. Tickets are $20 per person and this includes a candlelight dinner and entertainment. Deadline to purchase tickets is Sunday, April 21.
Cancer — Most everyone knows someone who has been affected by this dreaded disease. If you don’t — you will. This past year the funding for cancer research on the national level was cut for the first time ever. It is up to us — you and me — to help fund research, education and awareness campaigns. Relay for Life in the Miss-Lou is a big event and each team relies on special fundraisers to earn money to support the American Cancer Society. Won’t you please do your part in helping us find a cure.
Come — or as we say here in Natchez — Y’all come. We cordially invite you to attend this wonderful evening.
The place to be on Saturday night, April 28 at 6 p.m. is the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church Natchez for “A Night to Remember” Gala and Silent Auction. Don’t miss it!!
