Services for Delores Whitehead Bedford, 98, of Roxie, who died Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, in Meadville, will be 11 a.m. today at Meadville United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at Midway Cemetery, in Meadville, under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mrs. Bedford was born April 18, 1909, in Hamburg, the daughter of Willie J. Whitehead and Eliza Hester Whitehead. She was a housewife and mother who helped her beloved husband, Tom, on their family farm. She was always willing to serve in her church and community. She was active at Meadville United Methodist Church and it’s annual bazaar. She won many blue ribbons at the annual County Fair as a faithful member of the Homemakers Club. Mrs. Bedford was always concerned for those in need. She served on the County Welfare Board from 1961 until its abolition.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Bedford; her parents; seven brothers; three sisters; and a grandson.
Survivors include her daughter, Mamie Ruth Bedford Halford and husband, Bill, of Meadville; grandchildren, Bill and Debbie Halford of Meadville and Gayle and Sam Tumey of Liberty; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Will Halford of Meadville; and sister, Frances Whitehead Carman of Washington.
