Pilgrimage homeowners deserve thanks

As downtown business owners, we would like to thank all the owners of antebellum homes who opened them for the 75th Spring Pilgrimage. Along with other restaurants and shops, we enjoyed excellent business during the past five weeks and had great fun meeting visitors from around the country and the world.
Hundreds of people — paid and volunteer — work to make the various aspects of Pilgrimage happen, and all their efforts are appreciated. But it all begins with the homeowners. Only their willingness to give up portions of their residences (and privacy) and to manage the flow of visitors makes this great event possible.
Natchez Pilgrimage is a national cultural treasure as well as a critical component of our emerging tourism economy. We appreciate those who, in effect, share their own bounty with the entire community by graciously opening their homes.
