Trinity Mayfair offers fun for all ages

I was first introduced to Mayfair a couple of years ago shortly after my husband and I moved our family to Natchez.

A feeling of excitement grew across the entire Trinity school. For months, there were fliers, e-mails, letters and just general conversation about Mayfair.

I did not quite understand exactly what was so important about this much anticipated event. Then, we took our kids to Mayfair.

To say the least, it was fantastic. My boys had a wonderful time. We gave them a strip of tickets and just let them loose. Trinity is a school family, and we felt like we were home.

This year Mayfair is set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. There is no admission charge. Each ticket will cost 25 cents. This event is not just for children who attend Trinity Episcopal; every year boys and girls from all the Miss-Lou schools have a great time at Mayfair.

There will be something for everyone. The Trinity family has been very busy preparing for this year’s events. There will be games for the kids such as Lucky Duck Pond, Mini Basketball, Ping Pong Toss, Go Fish and much more. This year we will also have an old clunker that kids and adults can bang on to their heart’s content.

We also will have a White Elephant Sale. Starting at 7 a.m., all early risers looking for a bargain will find it at Trinity Episcopal. Small appliances, books, games and the usual garage sale items will be available. Gently used Trinity school uniforms will be available, but there will be no other clothing at the sale.

Heritage Motors will have new minivans and other vehicles at the school to check out and drive. For every adult who drives one of these great new vehicles, Chrysler will donate $5 to Trinity.

For those of us who are plant lovers, there will be plants and other garden items for sale. Each class at Trinity Episcopal has put together a beautiful basket (16 in all) to be raffled off at just $2 a chance. A few favorite basket themes are “Light the Home,” “Linens” and “Summertime Fun.”

Anything this much fun has got to come with great food. We will have plenty of hamburgers, hotdogs and concession stand goodies for sale on Saturday. And you don’t have to worry about fixing dinner that night; just stop by the freezer and choose a delicious homemade frozen casseroles or some dessert to take home for a quick meal.

The family fun will be over at 1 p.m. I suggest you go home, take a nap, find a babysitter and come back out for the Mayfair Adult Night Party. The party starts at 6 p.m. at Main Street Marketplace Café. There will be music, a silent auction (that has been known to get out of hand) and all the crawfish you can eat. Tickets are $20 each. You can also buy a chance to win $1,800 on the Second Annual Cow Pattie Drop (definitely a must see!).

Trinity’s Mayfair Day has a tradition of providing a wonderful, fun-filled family day for all of the Natchez Community. So mark your calendars and please join the Trinity Family and my family for a great day.
