The portion of Liberty Road between the southbound detour of Sargent Prentiss Drive and the intersection at Old Pond Road and North Shields Lane is closed to traffic.

Access between Liberty Road west (downtown Natchez) and Sargent Prentiss Drive will be through Wood Avenue and North Shields Lane. Access between Liberty Road east (Natchez Trace) and Sargent Prentiss Drive will be through the new northeast entrance/exit ramps, as it has been.

This closure will remain in place until reconstruction of the closed section of Liberty Road is complete, Mississippi Department of Transportation Project Engineer Nellie Wimberly said.

Motorists are reminded that orange- and white-striped barrels are provided to delineate the line between the traveled roadway and active construction areas. Motorists that pass between barrels other than where an opening has been provided are leaving the traveled roadway and risk injury not only to themselves but to the construction personnel inside the work zone. Driving conditions through a roadway construction project are constantly changing and drivers should always exercise extra caution when passing through the project.
