Services for Gilda Marie Gilbert, 81, of Vidalia, who died Monday, May 21, 2007, at Natchez Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family, will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father George Pookkattu and Father Paul Kunnumpuram officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the church.

Mrs. Gilbert was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Natchez, the daughter of John Joseph and Cecil Mallory Murphy. She attended Cathedral High School and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She was a resident of Vidalia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Marion Wesley Murphy.

Survivors include her husband, Elmer Eugene Gilbert of Vidalia; children, Eugene Gilbert and wife, Ann, of Folsom, John Gilbert of Knoxville, Tenn., Linda Reeves of Boynton Beach, Fla., Carol Ann Foote and husband, David, of Ludington, Mich., Kenneth Gilbert of Baton Rouge and Casey Gilbert of Vidalia; grandchildren, Evan Gilbert, Michele Thompson, Celeste Gilbert, Tracey Gilbert Sloan, Joey Gilbert, Meredith Lowrey-Lorenson, Ciara Foote and Wess Gilbert; 10 great-grandchildren, Kristen Gilbert, Taylor Gilbert, Allison Gilbert, Brandon Gilbert, John Thompson, Andrew Thompson, Geneva Thompson, Seth Sloan, Duran Sloan and Caleb Lowrey; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Jones and Johnnie Ann Hinson and husband, James; a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Reid, Sidney Johnson, James Hinson, Casey White, James Robb and James Smythe.
