Services for Brother Roy Archer, 57, of Sicily Island, who died Thursday, May 24, 2007, in Jonesville, will be 10 a.m. Sunday at New Hope Pentecostal Church with Brothers David Poole, Robert Martin, Scott Wilson, Bill Cotten and Kenneth Patten officiating.

Burial will follow at Highland Park, in Sicily Island, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at New Hope Pentecostal Church.

Brother Archer was born Nov. 20, 1949, in Hollis, Okla., the son of James and Ethel Archer. He was the pastor of New Hope Pentecostal Church for 31 years. Before making his church home New Hope Pentecostal, he was an evangelist. He also served his community as a school bus driver with Catahoula Parish School Board. Brother Archer served as state youth director for A.L.J.C. as well as Section 2 Presbyter. He also served as chaplain for Catahoula Correctional Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Makayla Hope Cross; sister, Dorothy Argo; and brother-in-law, Frank Moore.

Survivors include his wife, Gayla Archer of Sicily Island; sons, Darrell Wayne Archer and wife, Amanda, of Sicily Island and James Brandon Archer; daughter, Marita Kay Cross and husband, Charles, of Gonzales; grandchildren, Alaina Kaye Archer and Breana Nicole Archer; brothers, James Archer and wife, Evelyn, and John Archer and wife, Melody; sisters, Julie Argo and husband, Calvin, Betty Manney and husband, Wilmer, Laura Staggs and husband, Donald, and Wanda Moore.
