Business is zooming

NATCHEZ — The move to a new location signals changing times for the Delaney family of Computer Consultants.
The family-owned business has been pivotal in bringing computer technology up to speed in the Natchez area, and now they are settling into new space that bespeaks the professionalism they represent.
“We each have an office, and we will have a conference room where we can have one-on-one consultations with customers,” said Jay Gamberi, operations director for the company.
The new offices are at 304 Highland Boulevard, Suite D. The space is so new that the big sign that will hang near the street in front of the building has not been completed.
“This is a great location,” said David Delaney, owner of the company he founded in 1986. The move from U.S. 61 North was well worth the time and effort, he said.
“We are up-scaling from what we had before,” Delaney said. “We’ve been contemplating this move for a couple of years.”
Not only did the company begin to outgrow the old space and find it did not suit the image they wanted to portray; but the family wanted to be in a “more centralized location, close to the medical community, the banks, the oil companies,” Delaney said.
Also, the company does work in Woodville, Fayette and Ferriday. The new location makes sense as a hub.
Delaney, who worked for seven years at Natchez Regional Medical Center as director of the management information systems, has a long history with technology.
He has seen technology zoom into new areas during the years he has worked with computers and computer programs.
“The advent of the Internet has been unbelievable,” he said. One way the Internet has affected his business is in providing virtually immediate response to orders from companies such as Dell, Microsoft and Gateway, among others.
The company’s main line of work continues to be service, Delaney said. That is how it started.
“But we want to get more into education and want to bring more products to this area,” he said.
“We have written programs and applications. We can start a business from the ground up and carry them through the accounting process to mega-millions,” he said.
Gamberi said one of the important new services of the company is designing networks for an entire building.
“We design and implement networks for businesses and homes,” he said. “We can take a building and have it wired for a computer network and make sure it’s up to code.”
One of the company’s specialties is building custom-designed computers.
“We can sell any computer, but our custom built computers are the best,” Gamberi said.
The company is poised for what the owner sees as a changing business climate in Natchez. Delaney is optimistic that new industries will come and will turn around the economy.
“And we believe we have the staff to do just about anything the new industries might need,” he said.
“This location will help to expedite our projects.”
Gamberi is Delaney’s son-in-law, married to daughter Amy Delaney Gamberi, who is a receptionist and bookkeeper for the company.
Amy’s sister, Erin Delaney, is business manager of Computer Consultants.
David Delaney’s wife, Shirley Delaney, is office manager.
Two technicians work for the company. They are Nathan Addison and Adam Gamberi, a cousin to Jay.
Rob Hash is a part-time worker at the company.
