PORT GIBSON (AP) — Circuit Judge Frank Vollor has set sentencing for June 29 for Carl Brandon, who was convicted this past week of two counts of aggravated assault and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling.
A jury failed to reach a verdict on a charge of murder related to the slaying of Port Gibson attorney Allen Burrell. Vollor said Monday that he will hear motions on the murder charge on June 7 in Vicksburg.
Sentencing on the other three counts will be held at the Claiborne County courthouse.
Brandon, 54, was charged in the shooting of Loretha Porter, who was wounded at the Claiborne County Road Department headquarters; the shooting death of Burrell; and shooting into the home of former Claiborne County Administrator James Miller. Miller was not harmed.
