Mud Mania 2007 hits the bog

Mud is a rather simple concoction. All you need is dirt and a little water to create the sticky mixture.

In the rural South, mud is a part of life. Children love to play in it, squishing around in its gooey goodness.

But as you get older, mud is more of a hassle, correct?

Well, not if you’re a four-wheel drive enthusiast.

For those rare individuals, playing in the mud requires horsepower and four-wheel-drive traction.

Saturday was the third-annual Country Boy’s Mud Mania event, which draws big boys and big girls (and of course their big toys) from miles around.

The event’s organizer, Mark Porter dubbed it as the “biggest redneck party on earth.”

On Saturday with the sun blazing down the necks, arms and noses of participants, the contestants revved up their engines and plowed through the mud bog, competing to top mud honors.
