William Allen “Peanut” Cornwell Sr.
Jan. 9, 1938 – June 17, 2007
FERRIDAY — Services for Williams Allen “Peanut” Cornwell Sr., 69, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, June 17, 2007, in Ferriday, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Gary Howington and Marrell Cornwell officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home, Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Cornwell was born Jan. 9, 1938, in Ferriday, the son of Walter Cornwell and Lena Cripps Cornwell. He was the owner of Peanuts Convenient Store in Ferriday. Mr. Cornwell was a U. S. Army veteran and a member of the Moose Lodge and Kiwanis Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Irene Boyd and Bonnie Cornwell; and brother, Ralph Cornwell Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Leanette Cornwell of Ferriday; son, William Allen Cornwell Jr. of Ferriday; daughters, Lynn Sciara and husband, David, of Biloxi and Lisa Johnson of Vidalia; stepsons, Melvin and William McKinley; stepdaughters, Cynthia Smith, Regina Davis, Jennie Evans and Laura Chapman; sisters, Ilene Buckles of Ferriday and Carolyn Berry of Chatsworth, Calif.; brothers, Jack Cornwell of Ferriday, Larry and Marrell Cornwell of Wichita, Kan., and Wayne Cornwell of Del.; grandchildren, Lyndsy Myers, Brittney Haley, Will, Dustin and Kristen Johnson; also numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
