TWENTY YEARS AGO — Eight South Natchez basketball players spend a week at Mike Jones’ basketball camp at Co-Lin Wesson with five of them earning All-Star selections — seniors Vernel Singleton, Rickey Butler, Fred Williams and Damon Lewis and sophomore Johnny Franklin.

TEN YEARS AGO — Natchez Bicycle Race organizer Curtis Moroney is hoping the eighth running of this race, but after the way the race went in 1994 and having no race a year later, Moroney doesn’t know how many riders will show up for this year’s race.

FIVE YEARS AGO — Cathedral soccer coach Rocky Kettering helps direct the school’s summer soccer camp with a select team coach from Phoenix, Alex Horton, a longtime friend of Kettering’s , and select players to work with players from ages 4 to high school.
