GLOSTER — Services for Edgar Vines Sr., 76, of Natchez and former longtime resident of Perrytown community, near Crosby, who died Thursday, June 21, 2007, at Field Memorial Community Hospital in Centreville will be 1 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bernard Waites officiating.
Burial will follow at Roseland Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home, Gloster.
Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Vines was born Feb. 1, 1931 in Perrytown, the son of Luther Thomas Vines and Gertrude Sturdivant Vines. Mr. Vines retired as manager of the Gloster Arboretum. He and his wife, Hazel, were former owners and operators of The Glostonian Motel and Restaurant in Gloster for several years. He was a member of the Perrytown Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Luther Thomas Vines and sister, Willie Mae Murray.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Geter Vines of Woodville; children, Suzanne Shorey and husband, Martin, of Woodville, Edgar “Butch” Vines Jr. and wife, Pam, of Poplarville, and Pam Myers and husband, Randy, of Natchez; eight grandchildren, Michelle Ball and husband, Jim, Miranda and Melissa Shorey, all of Woodville, Tiffany Vines Melancon and husband, Dave, of Hattiesburg, Ed Vines III and his fiance’, Heather, of Poplarville, Gabrial and Payton Trim of Fordyce, Ark., and Ben Williams of Natchez; great-grandchildren, Brodie LaFontaine and Ian Bell; a brother, Marion Lewis “Bud” Vines and sisters, Kathleen Hutchins and Marie Murray.
