Stanton Baptist Church pastor Steve Purvis has announced plans for a church-led revival to begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, and continue each night at 7 p.m. through Wednesday, June 27. A Nursery will be provided during the services and a meal will be provided following the morning services on Sunday.
Leading the services will be Pastor Evangelist W. D. “Step” Martin and Music Evangelist Price Harris, whose ministries are based in Shreveport. Martin, pastor emeritus at Calvary Baptist Church in Shreveport has led over 400 revivals during his evangelism ministry and preached in 15 states and 10 foreign countries.
Harris has been in music evangelism approximately 15 years, averaging 30 revivals a year in addition to concerts, conferences and giving four weeks to international mission crusades each year.
Martin, a Mississippi native, has been a pastor at Calvary since 1969. With a membership of over 3,500 members, the church has been among the top ten churches in baptisms in the state for most of the last 30 years and one year alone had over 300 baptisms.
After graduating from Hinds Community College in Raymond, where he attended on athletic scholarship, he continued his studies and graduated from William Carey College in Hattiesburg before entering New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. During the next four years, he was pastor at Navco Baptist Church at Mobile, Ala. Prior to coming to Calvary Baptist, he also served as pastor at First Baptist Church of Satsuma, AL.
Harris was born in Tupelo and at graduation from Clarke College, changed his major to music and transferred to William Carey College in Hattiesburg, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music. At that time, he was called to the First Baptist Church of Satsuma, Ala.
In April, 1969, he accepted the call to Calvary Baptist Church in Shreveport where he served until January, 1978, when he entered music evangelism. He returned for an eight-year period to Calvary and then entered full-time vocational evangelism in August of 1991.
His mission-crusade field includes Jamaica, Romania, Mexico and the Home of Grace in Vancleave. He is active at Calvary where he served for many years with Associate Pastor W. D. “Step” Martin and now under the present pastor, Rick Edmonds. His latest of a large number of recordings is entitled “God Loves You,” and those who come to the revival services will find hope through these words.
