Jenkins selected as 2006 outstanding dietician

NATCHEZ — Kay Jenkins, RD, LD, LDN, dietitian at Natchez Community Hospital, has been selected as Valley Services’ Outstanding Dietitian for 2006.

Jenkins was selected for this award among the over 50 dietitians employed by Valley. Valley awards this honor to a dietitian who has been an employee for a minimum of three years and who has demonstrated exemplary service in a health care setting. Since joining Valley in October 2002, Jenkins has devoted her time and energy to excellence in customer service and patient care.

Jenkins has been a member of Natchez Community Hospital’s team since 1985 serving in a dual capacity as Director of Food Services and Clinical Dietitian. Some of her accomplishments include being chosen as Natchez Community Hospital’s Department Manager of the Year in 1995, Natchez Community Hospital and Heath Management Associates Department Manager of the Year in 1999 and Natchez Community Hospital’s Manager of the Quarter in 2006. She holds both Louisiana and Mississippi state licenses and is an active member of the American Dietetic Association and the Central Mississippi Dietetics Association.

As Outstanding Dietitian, Jenkins will attend the American Dietetic Association’s 2007 Food & Nutrition Conference & Exhibition to be held Sept. 29 through Oct. 2 in Philadelphia, Penn. In addition, Jenkins will be recognized among her peers at Valley Health Services Fall Clinical Conference on Oct. 12 in Jackson.
