Ferriday girls fall for first loss

WINNSBORO, La. — Errors were the downfall for the Ferriday Dixie Girls All-Star Team in Winnsboro, La., Monday night. The 16-18 year-old girls fast pitch softball team fell to Winnsboro 6-3.
The Ferriday All-Stars out hit Winnsboro seven hits to four but an error in the outfield while the bases were loaded led to four runs in the second inning for Winnsboro.
The losing pitcher for Ferriday was Kristen Olgesby. She pitched three innings before being relieved by Melissa McFarland. The Ferriday All-Stars will face Jonesville today at 6 p.m. in an elimination game. In their last meeting Ferridy won 17-6. Monday’s loss was Ferriday’s first in the tournament. They defeated Delhi and Jonesville Saturday and Sunday respectively.
