NATCHEZ — If you are in the mood for some good baseball, Duncan Park is the place today.
Natchez will play host to a round robin 11- and 12-year-old Dixie Youth Tournament starting at 10 a.m. at Carroll-Jones Field.
In Game 1, the Natchez and McComb 12-year-olds will face each other in what some say could be a glance into the future.
“The first game could be a preview of the district championship,” JoJo Eidt said.
Eidt is the head of the 11-12- year-old Dixie Youth League at Duncan Park.
“It’s a good way for us to practice and get ready for our sub-district tournament,” Eidt said.
The tournament will consist of seven teams. Natchez, McComb and Franklin County will field an 11-and 12-year-old team. Pine Hills will enter their 12-year-old team.
“Every summer we travel somewhere else to play,” Eidt said. “I decided to have one here. We have a nice field and it’s good for us.”
Natchez teams will play at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 4 p.m. and close out the night against Franklin County at 7.
Each game will have a time limit of an hour and a half.
