NATCHEZ — Fire destroyed an Adams County residence Saturday.
The house at 22 Myrtle Drive caught fire at 1:40 a.m., Natchez Fire Department Battalion Chief Stan Owens said.
“It was well-involved on arrival,” Owens said, reading from a report. “It had got a real good hold on the structure already.”
It took firefighters about three hours to put out the fire, but soon, areas started smoldering again, Owens said.
“We had to go back out this morning right after 7 a.m.,” Owens said. “There were hot spots here and there smoking up.”
The back of the house and the roof were totally destroyed. Only the front wall and one side wall remained.
No one was injured in the fire, Owens said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
