CCA officially announces Adams County prison

NATCHEZ, Miss. (AP) — Private prison operator Corrections Corp. of America said Monday it will begin constructing a new 1,668-bed correctional facility in Adams County.
Construction of the new facility will be completed during the fourth quarter of 2008 and will cost about $105 million, the company said.
Corrections Corporation said it will market the new beds to existing and potential customers.
The company added it will also begin expanding its Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility in Tutwiler by 848 beds. That project is expected to be finished during the second quarter of 2008 and will cost about $52 million.
Once that expansion is completed, the new facility will have a total of 2,672 beds.
Corrections Corp. shares fell 55 cents to $63.16 in electronic after-hours trading. During regular trading hours the shares rose 60 cents to close at $63.71.
