MONROE, La. (AP) — A man pulled over in a gold Mercedes turned out to be driving a car which Ruston’s mayor had left in Monroe for repairs.

Fabe Ingram, 45, of West Monroe, couldn’t produce registration or insurance information at the traffic stop early Monday, and turned out to be wanted for an unrelated theft, Monroe Police Chief Ron Schleuter said.

He said Ingram was given a traffic ticket and booked into the Richwood Correctional Center on three counts of theft. Bond was set at $3,000.

Mayor Dan Hollingsworth of Ruston, about 30 miles west of Monroe, had left the car in Monroe for work while he was out of town, Schleuter said. Ruston police retrieved the car for Hollingsworth, the police report said.
