People who attend the event are also invited to participate in a karaoke competition. The winner of he karaoke competition will win $100.

“Registration for the karaoke competition will be at 5 p.m.,” Rodgers said. “There will be a limit of 25 competitors.”

All of the karaoke contestants will have to supply their own music and will have four minutes to complete their demonstrations.

“It should be a lot of fun watching the karaoke,” said 18-year-old Hope Stephens, president of the Mayor’s Youth Council. “There will also food vendors at the event.”

Stephens said that although the event is already pretty much planned out local restaurants and food vendors are still welcome to contact the youth council if they would like to be part of the event.

“The youth council will be accepting donations at the family day,” Rodgers said. “The donations will help us pay for the event and help us plan more in the future.”

The youth council’s family day in the park will begin at 3 p.m. and run until at least 7 p.m.

“Everyone is invited to come out and have fun,” Stephens said.
