TWENTY YEARS AGO — After staying alive in the Dixie Pre-Majors Tournament with a 10-5 win over Northeast, the Concordia Pre-Majors are eliminated by Metro-National 6-4 despite the effort of pitcher Craig Beesley, who gives up just two hits in five innings.
TEN YEARS AGO — Cathedral athletic director Roy Garcia, who has held that position at that school since 1972, when he was also the head football coach until 1976, is named the Athletic Director of the Year in the entire state by the Mississippi Association of Coaches.
FIVE YEARS AGO — Tensas All-Star pitcher Austin Emfinger goes all five innings and strikes out seven batters and Tensas takes advantage of 11 Ferriday errors, 10 in the final two innings, to take a 17-6 win knock Ferriday out of the district tournament.
