MAGEE — The game between Natchez and Columbia as well as three other games at the Mississippi Dixie Youth Coach Pitch South Regional Tournament were rained out due to inclement weather Sunday.
This is the second straight day the tournament has been postponed because of the weather and Natchez has still yet to play its first game after receiving a first-round bye.
The Natchez-Columbia game will take place today at 6 p.m. at Field 1. After today’s games take place, the schedule for the rest of the tournament may be a little bit different.
“We’re going to discuss whether we’re going to double it up or bump it up a day,” tournament director and Magee Recreation Director David Dunn said. “We’re going to find out which is more convenient on them.”
The change in the schedule may end up having to be made because the state championship series, which will be a best two-out-of-three series, will also take place at Magee and it starts on Friday.
“I’m going to say double it up, but I don’t know about the rest of the coaches,” Natchez head coach Gary Farmer said.
If the games are doubled up, the games that were originally scheduled to take place on Sunday and Monday before the rainouts occurred will be played on Tuesday, and the final four games will take place on Wednesday.
The Dixie Youth 11-year-olds District 6 play was rained out Saturday and rescheduled for Tuesday. Natchez will take on the Lincoln County Americans at 6 p.m. in Wesson.
The 11-year-olds have more wiggle room since their state tournament doesn’t start until July 27.
