TWENTY YEARS AGO — Larry Dantzler, who had a 29-10 record and three playoff appearances in four seasons as head coach of the Ferriday Trojans’ football team, is leaving Ferriday to become administrative assistant to the superintendent of the Greene County School System.

TEN YEARS AGO — Jeremy Davis has three hits, including two doubles, and David Alton New III and Justin Dollar each have a triple as the Natchez Rebel League All-Stars defeat Lincoln Ready Mix 16-1 in the first round of the Dixie Youth 9-10 District Tournament.

FIVE YEARS AGO — Dustin Carroll, Chris Stenson, Parker Brumfield and Brian Sanderson each hit a home run as the Natchez Wallace League 11- and 12-year-old All-Stars defeat Copiah 14-4 in the first round of the Mississippi Dixie Youth Major League Tournament.
