NATCHEZ — Even the most avid Harry Potter fan can’t predict how J.K. Rowling has decided to end her popular series.
From Harry’s humble beginnings at Hogwarts to his escalating battles with evil, the world has grown to love the much written about character.
“I think Harry or Neville will die, my mom and I both made theories about how it will end,” said Potter fan, Gil Barrillas, 13.
Experts, fans and mere onlookers are trying their betting hand at the seventh book in the series.
“I have seen all the movies, and I really think Harry will die trying to kill Lord Voldemort,” said Potter fan, Council Smith, 10.
However, many are hoping and even praying Harry and his friends will survive the plot.
“I got interested in the series after my grandson started talking about them,” said Virginia Partridge, 62. “I feel like I am part of the characters bond and I can’t help but wonder if he will die.”
Others feel confident Rowling would not touch such a nerve within her fan base.
“One of the characters has to die, and if you follow the traditional pattern of a hero, Harry will prevail over evil,” Amanda Coley said.
Fans, Katherine Felter and Claudia Madde have been trying to figure out the plot among themselves.
“We have been asking each other and talking about it,” Felter said. “We don’t think he will die.”
No matter the circumstance, fans will soon find out. The book was due for release at 12:01 a.m. today.
