LIBERTY (AP) — Voters in Amite County will go to the polls on Sept. 25 to decide the fate of a $13.75 million school bond issue.
Amite County Board of Education members formally approved the election Thursday. To pass, the bond issue must be approved by 60 percent of those voting.
‘‘We have been meeting with the architects and the (bond) attorneys on this for about two months,’’ Superintendent of Schools Charles Kirkfield said.
The bond issue calls for new gymnasium at Amite County High School; a new library, classrooms and cafeteria and kitchen at Gloster Elementary; and a new lower elementary physical education building at Liberty Elementary School.
