Griffin, Hollins win recognition

This week at the Jackson Music Awards, WTYJ/WMIS had two runners-up.
Runner-up for Mississippi Gospel Radio Announcer of the Year is Mary Griffin, aka Mary G of WTYJ/WMIS Radio. Mary is a previous winner for the Mississippi Gospel Radio Announcer.
Runner-up for Statewide Disc Jockey of the Year is Leon Hollins, aka Late Night Leon of WTYJ/WMIS Radio.
The voting was done different this year.
The wonderful listeners had to vote by e-mail and only one vote per e-mail address and only two weeks of time to vote.
Previously, the listeners sent via mail postcards with their vote on it.
WTYJ 97.7 FM and WMIS 1240 AM has won the Mississippi Gospel Radio Announcer of the Year four times prior to this year.
Previous winners are Mary Griffin aka Mary G, Jennifer Minor aka Lady J, Jerome Myles aka J Myles, and Henry Davis Jr. aka Gospel Slim.
Natchez radio stations WTYJ 97.7 FM and WMIS 1240 AM have won the Mississippi Statewide Disc Jockey of the Year five times prior to this year.
Previous winners are George Lee aka G Lee (two-time winner), Walter J. Squalls, Calvin Butler aka Jyrod Buford, and Darrell S. White aka Mr. Melody.
