NATCHEZ — The T. M. Jennings Youth Baseball League is sending two teams to the State Tournament in Hattiesburg Friday.
On top of practicing everyday, the players, parents and coaches are spending their time looking for sponsors and donations to help fund the trip.
“All donations will go towards travel, food and lodging,” head coach Johnny Williams said.
Both teams spent Wednesday morning in the blistering heat at the intersection of Highway 61 and 84 in Washington taking donations from passer bys.
“All of the players and parents have been totally dedicated in helping,” Williams said.
The 9- and 10-year-old team reached the state tournament by defeating Hattiesburg 14-4 this past Sunday. They will face Biloxi at 4:30 p.m.
The 11- and 12-year-old All-Stars will follow that game playing Ocean Springs around 6:30 p.m.
“We are hoping that we get enough in donations to rent a van for our trip to Hattiesburg,” T. M. Jennings president Eric Fry said.
If anyone is interested in making a donation can contact Eric Fry at 601-807-1615.
