NATCHEZ — The Natchez man accused of setting two cars on fire Saturday night was arrested late Tuesday afternoon.
Fredrick J. Hauer, 18 of 15 Brentwood Lane, was arrested on charges of arson.
Police responded to a call Saturday at 9:46 p.m. on Dumas Drive that two cars — a 2004 Chevrolet Blazer and a Chevrolet Caprice —in front of the victim’s home had been partially burned.
“The victim, the victim’s family and the suspect know each other, so this is not a stranger situation,” Police Chief Mike Mullins said Wednesday.
The victim signed an affidavit warrant for Hauer’s arrest, Mullins said.
It appeared there had been an ongoing dispute between members of the victim’s family and the suspect, Mullins said.
The case is still under investigation.
“We’re attempting to discover what the cause of this was so we can possibly prevent any future violence,” Mullins said.
Mullins said he did not foresee any further arrests in the case.
Hauer was held in city jail on $15,000 bond Wednesday. afternoon.
