VICKSBURG — Services for Vera Pauline Cripps Dayton, 76, of Vicksburg, formerly of Jonesville, La., who died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at her residence, will be 2 p.m. today at Bowmar Baptist Church on Highway 61 South.
A graveside ceremony will be at Green Acres Memorial park followed by a reception at Bowmar Baptist Church for family and friends.
Mrs. Dayton was born in Selma, La., in 1949 where she met and married her husband of 58 years on July 1, 1949. She attended Bowmar Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother and a former world traveler and businesswoman, turned homemaker when she and her family moved to Vicksburg in 1972.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Alvin Kenneth Carter.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Routh Dayton Sr. of Vicksburg; her sons, James L. Dayton and wife, Leigh, of Dallas and Frank R. Dayton Jr. of Manhattan, Kan.; her daughter, Charlene Miles and husband, Ki, both of Vicksburg; sisters, Myrtle Swayze of Mound, La., and Carol Bonner and husband, George, both of Natchez; brother, Doug Carter and wife, Lisa, of Vidalia; and granddaughters, McKenzie and Mary Cate Miles, both of Vicksburg.
Pallbearers will be David Madsen, Charlie Peets, Jim Stevens, Kyle Whitehead, Jimmy Fairchilds, Trey Fairchilds, Mike Cogan and Bruce Swayze.
Honorary pallbearers will be her brother-in-law, Dr. E. W. Dayton of Zachary, Mike Edwards, Jay Maddox, Jason Maddox, Calvin Ashley Jr., Ty Wilson, Vince Little, William Wienke and Cynthia Bryan.
