WOODVILLE — A five run third inning for the Amite School Center’s fast-pitch softball team was enough to defeat Wilkerson County Christian Academy 5-4 Friday night.
“One bad (third) inning was all they needed,” WCCA head coach Ray Olive said.
The Rams broke the ice early off a clutch hit from Crystal Jackson who scored Lacy Fontenot and Mary Clair Netterville.
Three WCCA errors allowed AMC to score four of the five runs in the top of the third to put them on top for good.
WCCA attempted a comeback in the bottom of the third when Hannah Ashley led off with a single and Caroline Walker doubled and both scored off a Fontenot single.
The winning pitcher for ACS was Shelby Carnegie and Walker tallied the loss for WCCA.
“We came up a little short tonight,” Olive said.
