TWENTY YEARS AGO — Although she has no prior coaching experience, Jo Ann Forrest is the new girls’ head basketball coach at Adams County Christian School, replacing Clyde Adams. Forrest says she considers herself more of a laid-back type personality than anything else.

TEN YEARS AGO — Alcorn State senior Derrick Mason, who played tight end at Fair Park High School in Shreveport, La., will be using his hands and his 6-3, 255-pound frame more often as Braves head coach Cardell Jones is moving him to tight end from the offensive line.

FIVE YEARS AGO — A two-shot swing on No. 6 allows Jay Lessley to take a share of the overall lead with first-round leader Rob Smith and a birdie on No. 8 gives Lessley the outright lead as he holds off Lee Jones by three shots to win his second straight Beau Pré Club Championship.
