TWENTY YEARS AGO — Joel Lessley of Natchez defeats Brad Vander in straight sets in the semifinals and then wins the Boys 18s by default after his opponent, Clyde Sack, pulls out after injuring his ankle at the Gulfport Junior Invitational at The Racquet Club.
TEN YEARS AGO — Natchez native Frederick Dupre goes 2-up on Kevin O’Quinn of Boston, Mass., after two holes, but O’Quinn battles back on the back nine and ends up defeating Dupre 2-and-1 in the first round of the U.S. Amateur Open in Chicago, Ill.
FIVE YEARS AGO — Jessie Lee goes 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI singles, including one during a three-run rally in the bottom of the fourth inning, as the Huntington Lady Hounds rally from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Amite School Center Lady Rebels 5-3 to improve to 6-3.
