RAYVILLE, La. — The ACCS Lady Rebels had a chance to put the pressure on Riverfield early, but a few base-running mistakes came back to be crucial as the Lady Raiders took a 7-3 win in MPSA District 3-AA action Tuesday afternoon.
“If we hadn’t made the base-running mistakes that we made in the first inning, I felt it would have been a different ball game,” ACCS head coach Forrest Foster said.
Riverfield had just a 3-0 lead after four innings before putting the game away in the final three innings. However, ACCS did score its three runs in the latter stages of the game.
“After the first inning, we did a good job running the bases. We hit the ball better. We turned a double play in the second inning,” Foster said.
Foster said his team had several opportunities to put runs on the board, but they couldn’t capitalize on them. The Lady Rebels left the bases loaded in one inning and had runners on first and second in the top of the seventh, but couldn’t advance the runners over.
“The last two innings, we really hit the ball well,” Foster said. “The girls were real excited. They found out tonight that the can compete.”
