TWENTY YEARS AGO — Twelve-year-old Christopher Ogden of Natchez ends his record summer with top-eight finishes in four events and sets or betters previous state records at the Southern Zones Championships in Baton Rouge, La., and could be state swimmer of the year.

TEN YEARS AGO — Mary Barnett finishes with three hits, including a game-winning, two-run single with two outs in the top of the eighth inning as Cathedral lets a 6-3 lead slip away in the bottom of the seventh before rallying for an 8-6 win over Natchez High.

FIVE YEARS AGO — Randall Cunningham, who led the Philadelphia Eagles to the NFC Eastern Division title in 1988 and playoff appearances in 1989, 1990 and 1992 during his 11 seasons there before sitting out the 1996 season, will officially retire as a member of the Eagles.
