Candidates deserve your consideration

Adams County voters will head back to the polls this week for the next step in the process of selecting our elected officials.
Runoff elections should decide a number of key county races Tuesday including circuit clerk and the Democratic supervisor candidates.
We interviewed almost all of the candidates several weeks ago. We’ve dug into their beliefs, their goals and their hopes for office.
In the Adams County Circuit Clerk’s race, we endorse candidate Eddie Walker as the best candidate to restore integrity to the office.
Democrats vying for two supervisors’ seats will face off on Tuesday, too.
In District 1, radio personality Mike Smith earns our selection as the best candidate running. Smith brings and easygoing, down-to-earth maturity to the table. The Democratic winner will face incumbent Sammy Cauthen in the November general election.
In District 3, the race should be decided upon in Tuesday’s primary, as no Republican challengers exist. Incumbent and long-time supervisor Thomas “Boo” Campbell earns one more chance with us, based on his promises to make recreation a priority this term.
We hope you’ll give these candidates strong consideration, but, more important, we hope you head to the polls and exercise your right to vote — regardless of the candidate for whom you choose.
