Good news in the Miss-Lou has increased with the temperatures in recent weeks.

From the groundbreaking of a major employer for the area — Corrections Corporation of America’s prison on U.S. 84 — to several great tourism conventions, the news has been great lately.

Let’s review the good headlines from last week.

4The folks at The Markets have made it an annual affair to gather great vendors for their annual food show. The event at the Natchez Convention Center draws a wide cross section of local residents, filling them with home, health and food goodies and the chance to win big prizes.

But most important, the food show brings vendors by the dozen and their families to our hotels, our restaurants and our businesses. Thanks to the staff at The Markets for organizing such a community-oriented event.

4 The Vidalia Garden Club has a birthday coming, and the party planning has already started. The current members will have a gala later this year to celebrate the club’s 75th birthday.

This group of women has done countless good deeds for the City of Vidalia over the last 75 years, and they deserve a party to celebrate.

Temperatures may not be going down anytime soon, but as long as the good news keeps coming, we’ll be happy.
