NATCHEZ — A man accused of multiple car burglaries last week was arrested late Sunday night.
George S. Hall, 22, 5703 Jackson St., Apt. 227, Alexandria, was charged with burglary of a vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.
Valuables such as loose change, a hunting knife and a flashlight were stolen from vehicles on Summerfield Road, Lindberg Avenue and Camellia Drive early in the morning Aug. 22.
At roughly midnight Sunday, Natchez Police officers approached Hall, Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins said.
“When officers approached him, he ran, and as he ran, he threw down a bottle of hydrocodone, a painkiller, which he had no prescription for,” Mullins said.
After he was caught and arrested, a family member was picking up his car and recognized items in it that did not belong to him.
“We recovered the engraved hunting knife as well as items stolen from vehicles in the county,” such as speakers, CDs and a checkbook, Mullins said.
Hall has cooperated with police and given them more information on other burglaries, Mullins said.
“He also has an arraignment scheduled in Rapides Parish for 11 counts of burglary of a vehicle,” Mullins said.
Hall was held in the city jail Monday evening. No bond will be set until his arraignment.
