FERRIDAY — The Ferriday Garden Club’s upcoming luncheon and style show promises to be a star-studded event Sept. 20 judging from the stars, the stripes and the patriotic touches in the Sevier United Memorial Church Fellowship Hall.

The hall will be transformed into a gala dining room set in a patriotic theme. The theme was chosen in honor of the Bayou Park in Ferriday recently renamed the Bayou Memorial Park and Blue Star Highway Marker as a tribute to U.S. veterans. Proceeds from the style show and luncheon will benefit the memorial park where over 50 American flags fly on national holidays.

Due to a modest amount of space available for the style show, a limited number of tickets could be made available, and the event has recently sold out.

Event chairperson Mary Beth Whitehead said that ladies from Ferriday and Natchez will model new fall fashions available at Katie’s Ladies, a Natchez fashion boutique.

Katie McCarstle, owner of Katie’s, will narrate the show featuring styles from her shop. Ferriday models will be Josie Craig, Lollie Hammett, Anne Maxwell, Dorothy Perkins, Dianne Watson and from Natchez, Mary Lou Perkins.

The luncheon will be light fare served within the theme, “Patriotism with Style.”

Ticket holders are urged to arrive at the event promptly at 11:30 a.m. in order to see all of the style show. Tickets will be collected at the door and should have attendees’ names written on the back for inclusion in the drawing.

Twenty names will be drawn for door prizes provided by Ferriday and Natchez merchants.
