GEISMAR, La. — Services for Willie James Young Sr., 57, a longtime resident of New Orleans and current resident of Gonzales, formerly of Woodville, who died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, at the Turo Medical Center in New Orleans, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Pilgrim Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Irvin Briley officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Littlejohn Funeral Home of New Orleans is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Young was the son of Charlie Hillery and Hettie Anderson Young of Woodville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, three brothers, three uncles, five aunts, two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law.

Survivors include a devoted and loving wife of 13 years, Cheryl; children, Willie Jr. and wife Claudia of Salinas, Calif., Patricia A. Parker of Baton Rouge, Melvin and wife Amy of San Bernardino, Calif., Brandy Young White and husband Bryan of Fort Lee, Va., Shaylia Young of New Orleans, Lakeitha Rogers and D’Wayne Young, both of Gonzales; a special nephew that he considered as one of his sons, Thomas G. Young Jr. and wife LaWanda of Baton Rouge; sisters, Dorothy Barnes of Fresno, Texas, Daisy M. Jones and husband James and Ida Clouden, all of New Orleans; brothers Charlie H. Young Jr. of Atlanta, Hillery L. Young and wife Lyndell of Memphis, Tenn. and John H. Young of New Orleans; aunts Willie M. Brandy of Geismar and Elizabeth Drisdell of Belleville, Ill.; 17 grandchildren, seven sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law; and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
