FERRIDAY — A man accused of stealing lumber from a hardware store was arrested Sunday morning.
A little after 2 a.m. Sunday, Ferriday Police saw a truck transporting lumber, Police Chief Richard Madison said.
The officer could not see license plates on the truck, so he pulled the truck over, Madison said.
The driver was identified as Sebastian Calvin Tyler, 46, 302 Carolina Ave.
Tyler said he brought the lumber from a location on Doty Road where construction work was being done, Madison said.
“Upon further questioning, he said he took it from Home Hardware (Center),” Madison said.
Officers investigated and found tire tracks on the grounds near the hardware store, Madison said. In addition, grass in the tire treads matched that near the store, he said.
Tyler was booked into the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office on charges of simple burglary. Madison said the charge should have been simple burglary of a business.
The investigation is ongoing, Madison said.
