NATCHEZ — Don’t miss the chance to demonstrate your photography skills with the Adams County Soil and Water Conservation District’s first natural resource photo competition.
The competition is open to all non-professional photographers. The photos must be taken at a location in Adams County, however, the photographer does not need to reside in the county. You are considered a non-professional if you do not earn, or have not earned the majority of your living from photography.
There will be two age categories for submission: adult division (18 years or older) and youth division (17 years and under). All high quality photographs of Adams County landscapes, wildlife/animals and people/individuals working with and/or enjoying the benefits of the county’s natural resources will be considered.
Color or black and white prints will be accepted. Prints must be 8 by 10 inches in size. Digital photos must be submitted as prints. Only one category per print may be submitted, however there is no limit to the number of prints entered.
The judging will be based on relevance to conservation, creativity, photographic quality and impact. Entries will be judged to determine appropriate category entry and to select the top three winners in each topic category. First round judges reserve the right to switch prints to a more appropriate category or to disqualify if the entry is not suitable for any of the categories.
Those attending the Adams County SWCD Annual Meeting will vote by secret ballot, for the first-place winners from the top three choices determined in the first round of judging. The winners will be announced by the closing time of the annual meeting.
We will be unable to return photos; therefore, do not submit negatives. All entrants agree that any photograph they submit may be used for marketing and promotion purposes directly related to the mission of the conservation district. Credit will be given to the photographer.
Multiple entries can be made to the same category; however, each photo must be accompanied by its own entry form. Entry forms can be picked up from the Adams County Soil and Water Conservation district office at 110 Northgate Road, Suite C.
Photographs that are entered in the people/individual category must include a photo release form from the person photographed. Release forms can also be picked up from the Adams County District office.
All photos and entry forms must be submitted to the Adams County Soil and Water Conservation District office, 110 Northgate Road, Suite C, Natchez, MS 39120, by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28. They may be hand delivered or mailed. If mailed, please package carefully to prevent any damage from bending during shipping.
