NATCHEZ — National bestselling author Gayden Metcalfe will be at Turning Pages Books & More located at 520 Franklin St., from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. The lifelong southerner and founder of the Greenville, Mississippi Arts Council will be signing her new bestseller co-authored by Charlotte Hays, “Somebody is going to die if Lilly Beth doesn’t catch that bouquet: The Official Southern Ladies’ Guide to Hosting the Perfect Wedding.”

The two Delta ladies have managed once again to poke fun at a Southern tradition and smile to tell the tale. Their first book, “Being Dead Is No Excuse,” spent months on the bestsellers lists and is still selling well in Natchez.

The book creates belly shaking laughter and is a must read for any Southern lady considering a first, second or third wedding.

It is also necessary reading material for attendants, mothers of the bride, floral designers, caterers and wedding coordinators.

The book contains good advice for every aspect of the big day. Who needs Emily Post on wedding etiquette when you have Gayden and Charlotte to help you with your Southern wedding?

The book includes lists of dos and don’ts, lists of foods to include and foods to excludes, anecdotes about memorable Delta wedding parties and Delta weddings, advice about customs allowed and not allowed — at St. James Episcopal, and delicious favorite recipes for weddings or other celebrations.

If your sense of humor is waning, you will want to keep a copy of “Somebody is going to Die” along with “Being Dead Is No Excuse” handy for the recipes alone.

“Somebody is going to die if Lilly Beth doesn’t catch that Bouquet” was released in April by Miramax Books and spent several weeks on the national bestsellers lists.

Metcalfe lives in Greenville with her husband Harley Metcalfe III.

Charlotte Hays is a Delta native and a recovering gossip columnist living in Washington, D.C.
